Special Event
Join us for a day full of hands-on discovery as we celebrate all things Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math! Explore a STEAM Sensory Table with oobleck and slime, get creative with Food Container Experiments like making butter in a jar, tackle STEAM Tabletop Challenges using KEVA Planks and Snap Circuits, and learn all about water birds in Pelicans 101—where you’ll make your own pelican to take home. Come experiment, create, and play your way through the world of STEAM!
Join us for our free Sensory Nights, held on the second Thursday of each month from 5:00–7:00 pm, now through April (note: no Sensory Night in January). These evenings are designed especially for children and families with sensory sensitivities. During Sensory Night, we turn down the lights and exhibit sounds, offer specialized sensory activities, and provide access to additional sensory experiences. And, as always, our sensory room and supplies are always available to help make your visit comfortable, engaging, and fun for everyone. Sponsored by Jamf Nation Global Foundation.
Join us for a day dedicated to creativity, sustainability, and fun! Create Recycled Art masterpieces from everyday materials, Re-invent with hands-on engineering challenges, and play exciting Recycling Games like Race to Recycle and our scavenger hunt. Plus, learn how YOU can make a difference in our community—take the recycling pledge and be knighted as an official ‘rECycler’ of Eau Claire!
Grades K-4: This is a drop-off, 3 hour program focused on learning to build your own city! Students will create a city/civilization out of cardboard. In the cardboard city public buildings are being created out of large boxes and citizens start making stores, restaurants, farms, and other enterprises using their private building and things they have from our Makery Cart. Students can create all types of businesses, including a pet shop selling paper animals, a flower shop, restaurants, farms, gym, etc. This is an opportunity for students to let their imagination run wild!
Grades 3-8: Join us at the Children's Museum of Eau Claire for Infento Kit building! Similar to large-scale LEGOs, infento kits are modular building systems that allow students to construct life-size, rideable vehicles together. As they work through the building process, students will naturally develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and engineering skills. They will be encouraged to think creatively, experiment with different designs, and learn from trial and error. After a week of working on vehicles, students will have the opportunity to take their creation for a spin! This is a drop-off, 3 hour program for your child who is entering grades 3rd - 8th. Come join us for this fun ride!

Grades K-6: This is a drop-off, 3 hour program focused on making holiday and winter themes creations! Students will get to use Makery materials to make different kinds of themed creations! From felt pillows to printmaking, and sensory bags to NYE hats, attendees can let their imagination run wild.
Grades 2-8: This is a drop-off, 3 hour program focused on making holiday and winter themed activities! Students will do everything from growing their own snowflakes to making indoor snowballs. Just because it's cold outside, doesn't mean we can't bring a snowball fight indoors! Come join us for this amazing winter-themed workshop!
