Parent’s Night Out: Engineering Fails
This is a 3-hour drop-off program celebrating National Engineering Week! Spend an evening celebrating National Engineering Week at the museum, while parents enjoy a night out. What causes engineering failures? Why do bridges collapse, or what causes boats to sink? Engineer and test your own boats and bridges to see where they fail. Construct a model building and test it to see if it can withstand natural disasters! A pizza dinner and beverage will be served, or you can bring your own meal.
Learn how sound is made, and the different ways we can see sound! Students will learn about music and physics through interactive activities like making string telephones, visualizing sound with rice, building simple instruments, and exploring vibrations with household items.
Learn the basics of cardboard construction, then build a fun house you might see at a carnival, with added features like wobbly floors, mirrored rooms, and secret passages. You get to be the designer, the architect, and the engineer all in one!
Learn the science behind animals and machines soaring in the sky! From planes to birds to satellites, explore with your head in the clouds. And get a chance to meet Luna, Beaver Creek's Barred-Owl ambassador animal. Perfect for aerospace or flying enthusiasts! Ages 8-11, 9:00AM-12:00PM
Spend an evening at the museum making your own LEGO Movie, while parents enjoy a night out! Create your own mini LEGO® world, and learn how to make stop motion with your creations. Make a city, an amusement park, or something else. With over 100 pounds of loose bricks and optional LEGO® robotics kits, we have all the resources to let your imagination run wild, brick by brick! A pizza dinner and beverage will be served, or you can bring your own meal. Ages 8-11, 4:00PM-7:00PM
Join us for a 4-day spring break camp! Magic isn’t just for the imagination...this camp will feature lessons in astronomy, herbology, explosive “potions”, and more! Learn how magical science really is! Ages 8-11, 9:00AM-12:00PM.
